How Ḏḥwtj was rebuilt, mark by mark

What We Found
The attestation runs through the tradition's own sources: 𓅜𓏏. Meaning: "He who is like the ibis".
The figure behind the name: Thoth moves through Egyptian myth as the indispensable companion: he is present at creation, mediates divine quarrels, heals the wounded eye, and judges the dead.
What the Name Carried In
The Word That Organized Creation. Egyptian creation had many authors — Atum of Heliopolis, Ptḥ of Memphis, the eight of Hermopolis — and Ḏḥwtj is the one indispensable technician in all of them. The Shabaka Stone's Memphite Theology makes him effectively the tongue of Ptḥ: the creator conceives in his heart, and it is Thoth's word that carries the conception into speech, 'which created all that exists.
The Mediator of the Gods. In the New Kingdom narrative The Contendings of Horus and Set (Papyrus Chester Beatty I), Ḏḥwtj is the divine institution that keeps the brawl from becoming apocalypse: he is scribe to the Ennead's tribunal, messenger between the courts above and below, and healer of both combatants — restoring Horus's torn eye and Set's injured testicles with the same professional calm. When the gods deadlock for years, it is Thoth who carries the correspondence with Osiris in the Duat, and Thoth who records the final verdict that seats Horus on the throne.
A spelling that has to carry stories like these is not a label. It is equipment.
Where It Stood Before Us
Thoth's principal cult center was Khemenu (Hermopolis Magna) in Middle Egypt, where remains of his temple and the nearby ibis and baboon cemeteries have been excavated. Thousands of mummified ibises and baboons were deposited as votive offerings at Saqqara, Tuna el-Gebel, and other sites. Temple reliefs from the New Kingdom onward show Thoth as scribe, healer, and lunar measurer. The Graeco-Roman Hermetic texts and Coptic references preserve his later reputation as Hermes Trismegistus. The bench inherits all of it — the web temple is the newest site, not the first.
What We Rejected
thoth as the primary form. It survives as the convenience it is; it does not get to lead. The hierarchy is full restoration first, and this name can afford to stand at the top of it.
What We Set Down
Ḏḥwtj — What survives here cannot be shown in ASCII: a feature of the original that the fallback alphabet flattens. That is the Tier-1 test, and this name passes it without argument.
For the voice: tji-HOO-tee — the first consonant is like a 'dj' made against the hard palate, and the middle h is a dry throat-fricative.
The temple stands at /thoth/ — the notes above are public in its Scholarly Edition, sources and all.
