Bench notes, Pállas: what we found, what we rejected, and what we finally set down. Kept in the open, because a restoration you cannot audit is just a spelling with confidence.
What We Found
The attestation, on the evidence Hesiod, Theogony and Apollodorus, Bibliotheca set down: Πάλλας. Meaning: "Titan of warcraft; father of Nike, Kratos, Bia, and Zelos".
The figure behind the name: Pállas belongs to the older generation of gods, the Titans.
What the Name Carried In
Son of Kreios and Eurybia. Hesiod names Pállas as the son of the Titan Kreios (Crius) and the sea-power Eurybia. From this union of sky-lineage and maritime force comes a deity whose domain is the practical mastery of conflict.
The Children of Pállas. By the Oceanid Styx, Pállas fathers Nike (Victory), Kratos (Strength), Bia (Force), and Zelos (Rivalry). These are not companions chosen at random; they are the necessary entourage of any war.
A spelling that has to carry stories like these is not a label. It is equipment.
