The Stories That Carry the Name
Anointed in Secret. The prophet Samuel is sent to Bethlehem to anoint a new king from among Jesse's sons. One by one the tall and impressive brothers pass by, but YHWH rejects them. The youngest, David, is kept in the fields tending sheep.
David and Goliath. The Philistine champion Goliath challenges Israel to single combat. David, still a boy, refuses Saul's armor and goes out with a staff, a sling, and five stones. 'You come to me with a sword and with a spear,' he says, 'but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts.
The Fugitive Prince. David's popularity awakens Saul's jealousy. He flees into the wilderness, gathers a band of outlaws, and twice spares Saul's life when he could have killed him. His friendship with Saul's son Jonathan is intense and tragic; Jonathan recognizes that David, not he, will be king.

The Name Travels
In Islam, David is Dāwūd, a prophet-king who received the Zabūr (Psalms), could soften iron, and was granted a wise judgment. Christianity reads David as the ancestor of Jesus and the model of the messianic king; the Gospels open with his genealogy and the Psalms with his voice.
The Address It Earned
The temple of Dāwîḏ stands at /sites/david/ — lore, scholars, patterns — because a name carrying this much story deserves more than a parking page. The restoration preserves more than the ASCII form can express — stress, length, or a letter the Latin keyboard lost — which places it, mechanically, in Tier-1.
