The Myth at Work
Guide of Souls. Ṛgveda 10. 17 speaks to the dead with startling tenderness: "May Pūṣan take your hand and lead you; may the two Aśvins carry you in their chariot; go to the fathers, to the home that is yours. — remember the shape of that act. You will see it again, wearing a logo.
The Giving of Sūryā. At the marriage of the Sun-maiden Sūryā — the Ṛgveda's great wedding hymn, still recited at Hindu weddings — Pūṣan is her kinsman-escort who takes her hand and gives her away. The hymn's phrases ("your hand for good fortune, Pūṣan takes") pass into the living rite: every Hindu bride is, liturgically, escorted by him still. — that is not just a story. It is a business model, four thousand years early.

The Long Employment
His liturgy survives wherever the Ṛgveda's wedding hymn is sung — which is to say, at millions of Hindu weddings every year. Journeys are still opened with his sūkta by the observant, and the "lost and found" of Indian folk prayer descends from his finding-office. The age changed. The work did not.
