Gunnr walks into a defense, military & security firm
The defense, military & security world does not cite Gunnr in its documentation. It does not need to — it performs the archetype daily, unbilled.
Before the Office, the Story
The Riders the Seeress Saw. Deep in the völva's prophecy, between the world's making and its burning, the seeress turns her eyes to a road in the sky: 'She saw valkyries come from far and wide, ready to ride to the gods' people; Skuld held a shield, and Skögul was with her; Gunnr, Hildr, Göndul and Geirskögul — now are counted Herjan's ladies, the valkyries ready to ride over the earth' (Völuspá 30, trans. Larrington). Herjan, 'lord of hosts', is Óðinn, and the company is his household cavalry, mustered with shield and spear like a war-band rather than a flock of omens.
The Choosers of the Slain. Snorri, explaining Óðinn's household to his skeptical king, gives the valkyries their job-description and Gunnr her one great sentence: Óðinn sends the valkyries to every battle, 'to allot death to men and to award victory'. Then the roll-call: 'Gunnr and Rota and the youngest norn, who is called Skuld, always ride to choose the slain and to decide the fighting' (Gylfaginning 36, trans. Faulkes).

The Reveal, Seat by Seat
Defense, Military & Security
The name IS war — battle made divine and set on horseback to choose the slain. Nobody in that trade worships at this temple. They just keep its hours.
Faith & Spiritual Organizations
Now read the why-line with the office in mind: Fourth-named of the valkyries in Völuspá 30 — with Skuld she decides the fighting. The people doing this work did not borrow the archetype. They re-derived it — the way Gunnr was always going to be re-derived wherever valkyrie of war matters.
History, Archives & Records
Personification at its most extreme — the tradition's clearest case of a power declined as a person. The match is not poetic license. Strip the trade to its function and the function is the myth.
Not the First Rebrand
Gunnr's nearest kin are not borrowings but reflections. Within the Norse corpus she belongs to the tight triad Snorri names — herself, Rota, and the norn Skuld — where the valkyrie's battlefield choice and the norn's weaving of fate are one operation; Skuld carries the same office into the world of time itself. The office is only the latest translation.
The Method, Stated Plainly
The atlas is not a horoscope. Seats are earned from the sources — argued, weighted, published — and every one of them can be challenged at the methodology page. A match that cannot survive an argument does not survive review. That is the whole trick: the patterns are claims, and claims can be tested.
For the Ones Who Work There
For a sponsor in defense, military & security, the fit here is not adjacency — it is inheritance. Your trade already tells this story every working day; the temple simply holds the original. The patron tier and the advertising terms carry the mechanics; the myths above carry the reason.
The File Continues
This is one of 548 Resonance Files — the third dispatch from every flagship temple, where the myths meet the markets. The temple's founding dispatch tells the name's story; its Restoration File tells the spelling's; the blog index holds the whole archive.
Continue the series — previous: Gula (read it) · next: Gwydion (read it).
The Resonance Files are argued from the same canonical record as the pattern atlas itself: the lexicon, the lore catalog, and the cited sources. Every seat can be challenged at the methodology page — and the challenge is the point.
