The myths of Daidalos are preserved in Homer, Apollodorus, Diodorus, and Ovid: a small cycle that celebrates human invention and prices it — envy, exile, and the fall of a son. Every artifact he makes works exactly as designed, and every design costs him something he did not intend to pay.
