How Theía was rebuilt, mark by mark

From the restoration bench — the working notes on Theía, kept because the process is the proof.

What We Found

The attestation, in the attestation LSJ and Beekes, Etymological Dictionary of Greek give us: Θεία. Meaning: "Goddess, divine".

The figure behind the name: Theía has no independent narrative myths; her importance is genealogical and cosmological.

What the Name Carried In

Birth of the Luminaries. Hesiod mentions Theía exactly where her meaning lives. First, in the Titan catalogue, she is simply 'Theía, crowned with gold' (Theogony 135) — one word of ornament, and the only one he ever gives her.

Pindar's Theia of Many Names. Pindar opens Isthmian 5 with the most vivid address Theía ever received: 'Mother of the Sun, Theia of many names' — and immediately explains the 'many names': it is because of her that mortals count gold as the most powerful of things, for the radiance of her doings shows upon gold and its gleam. The ancient scholiasts add the practical detail: sailors at sea see Theía in the sun's distant flash on the waves, reading the horizon by her.

A spelling that has to carry stories like these is not a label. It is equipment.

Where It Stood Before Us

No sanctuary of Theía is securely attested — Pausanias, who tours hundreds of shrines across Greece, offers her not one — and no independent image of her survives. She is visible only indirectly: in the countless representations of her children, Hēlios rising in his chariot, Selḗnē with billowing veil, Ēōs ascending in saffron, whose very ubiquity is her monument. Her name is fixed for us instead by the earliest Greek poetry — the two lines of Hesiod and the opening of Pindar's fifth Isthmian — a reminder that some gods are monuments of language rather than stone. The bench inherits all of it — the web temple is the newest site, not the first.

What We Kept

The evidence, mark by mark — 1 feature the keyboard form theia cannot hold:

What We Rejected

theia as the primary form. It survives as the convenience it is; it does not get to lead. The hierarchy is full restoration first, and this name can afford to stand at the top of it.

What We Set Down

Theía — What survives here cannot be shown in ASCII: a feature of the original that the fallback alphabet flattens. That is the Tier-1 test, and this name passes it without argument.

For the voice: 'thay-EE-ah' — the first syllable is long and level, the second pitched high and bright.

The temple stands at /theia/ — the notes above are public in its Scholarly Edition, sources and all.

The File Continues

The temple's founding dispatch tells the name's story; its Resonance File reads the myths into the industries; the blog index holds the whole archive.

The Restoration Files are written from the same canonical record as the temples themselves: the lexicon, the lore catalog, the pattern atlas, and the cited scholarly sources. If a file ever disagrees with its temple, the temple is right — tell us, and the file will be corrected.
