How Adámas was rebuilt, mark by mark

What We Found
The attestation, in the attestation LSJ and Beekes, Etymological Dictionary of Greek give us: ἀδάμας. Meaning: "Unbreakable; the adamant; the hardest substance; origin of "diamond"".
The figure behind the name: Adámas appears in Greek myth not as a character but as a substance that binds, wounds, or armors the gods themselves.
What the Name Carried In
The Castration of Ouranos. Hesiod (Theogony 161) says Gaia gave Kronos an adamantine sickle (ἅρπην ἀδάμαντος) with which to wound his father Ouranos. The tool is decisive: only a substance harder than sky can wound the sky.
Chains That Hold a Titan. In Aeschylus's Prometheus Bound, Hephaistos forges adamantine bonds to pin Prometheus to the Caucasus. The blacksmith laments that his own art must be turned against a kindred god; the chains symbolize the cruelty of Zeus's new order and the unyielding price of foresight.
A spelling that has to carry stories like these is not a label. It is equipment.
Where It Stood Before Us
No material object can be securely identified as 'adamant' in the archaeological record; the term is literary and lapidary. Greek and Roman texts describe it as a dark, extremely hard mineral or metal, perhaps magnetite, emery, or corundum before diamond was recognized. The word's archaeological trace is therefore lexical and iconographic — sickles, chains, and forge scenes in vase painting and relief. The bench inherits all of it — the web temple is the newest site, not the first.

What We Rejected
adamas as the primary form. It survives as the convenience it is; it does not get to lead. The hierarchy is full restoration first, and this name can afford to stand at the top of it.

For the voice: 'ah-DAH-mahs' — stress falls on the middle syllable, with a crisp final -s.
