The provenance file on Mnw
The provenance file for Mnw. Nothing here is unsourced; that is what the file is for.
Provenance
1. The attestation. 𓀽, from the tradition's own record. On record: Herodotus, Histories 2.46 (the procession and the Pan-equation), Festival reliefs of the Ramesseum and Medinet Habu (the Min procession), Predynastic Min-standard iconography (Scorpion macehead), Meyer, ‘Min’ in Lexikon der Ägyptologie.
2. The narrative record. Older Than the Kings — Min’s emblem appears on the artefacts of the late Predynastic — the famous Min-standard carved on the maceheads of King Scorpion and Narmer’s age. Before Horus belonged to the king, Min belonged to the land: the lightning-rod, the ithyphallic pillar, the force that stood behind fertility itself. The Procession at the Harvest — His great festival in the month of Shemu opened with the king cutting a sheaf of emmer — the ‘coming forth of Min’ from his shrine on the shoulders of his priests, carried to the acclaim of the crowd, followed by the ritual release of four wild birds to the four winds. The rite married the harvest to virility: the cut grain and the standing god are one mystery.
3. The physical record. Coptos (Qift) at the Nile’s bend was his city, controlling the desert road to the Red Sea; its temples yielded great Min colossi now in the Ashmolean and Cairo. The Ramesseum’s harvest procession reliefs and Medinet Habu’s festival calendar give his ritual in carved detail, from the cut sheaf to the released birds.
4. The current holding. The temple at /min/, a temple of the restored name. aSCII-equivalent form
5. The documented resonances. Agriculture, Food & Harvest, Wedding, Family & Maternity, Defense, Military & Security — seats argued and weighted in the pattern atlas, read through the myths in this temple's Resonance File.
6. The primary sources. The Book of the Dead — the library this file answers to, open at the Sacred Texts collection.
7. The continuing record. Min’s harvest festival is the ancestor of every ‘first sheaf’ ceremony documented in the Mediterranean; Herodotus’ Pan-equation is still cited as the founding gesture of comparative mythology. Coptos, his city, guarded the desert routes whose exploitation made Egypt’s Eastern Desert gold famous.

The Restoration Files are written from the same canonical record as the temples themselves: the lexicon, the lore catalog, the pattern atlas, and the cited scholarly sources. If a file ever disagrees with its temple, the temple is right — tell us, and the file will be corrected.
