Medb walks into a defense, military & security firm
Walk into any defense, military & security outfit and watch for ten minutes. You will see a very old act performed with newer props. The act has a name. It is Medb.
Before the Office, the Story
The Pillow-Talk. One night at Crúachan, when the royal bed had been made for Medb and Ailill, they fell into a 'bolster-conversation' — comrac chind cherchailli — and Ailill boasted that the woman married to a wealthy man is well off. Medb answered that she was well off before him: daughter of Eochu Feidlech, high king of Ireland, and the wealthier of the two. To settle it they had every treasure counted — cups, rings, cattle, sheep, horses — and the tally came out exactly even, save one item: the great bull Finnbennach, born in Medb's herd, had scorned to be counted a woman's chattel and walked over into Ailill's, where he stood as the White-Horned of Connacht.
The Bride-Gift Speech. The Táin lets Medb state her own terms, and the speech is the charter of her queenship. Daughter of the high king, wooed by the kings of Ireland, she refused them all, she says, 'for I asked a strange bride-gift such as no woman before me had asked of a man of the men of Ireland — a husband without meanness, without jealousy, without fear. ' If he were mean, their wealth could not sit together, for she is generous in gifts; if jealous, she could not live beside him, 'for I was never without one man in the shadow of another'; if fearful, he would shame her in the front of every fight.

The Reveal, Seat by Seat
Defense, Military & Security
The Táin Bó Cúailnge — the cattle-raid that is Ireland's Iliad, willed into being by her. The match is not poetic license. Strip the trade to its function and the function is the myth.
Leadership, Governance & Public Administration
Now read the why-line with the office in mind: Queen and commander of Connacht — she leads the Táin herself, choosing husbands as she chooses wars. The people doing this work did not borrow the archetype. They re-derived it — the way Medb was always going to be re-derived wherever sovereignty, war, intoxication matters.
Agriculture, Food & Harvest
Cattle as kingdom — the Donn Cúailnge is the prize her sovereignty must possess. The match is not poetic license. Strip the trade to its function and the function is the myth.
Not the First Rebrand
The Welsh corpus preserves no Medb — but it preserves her word: Welsh meddw, 'drunk', is the same adjective, and the Mabinogi gives the Brythonic side of the theme she embodies: Rhiannon arriving as a mounted marvel no rider can catch, and the footholder Goewin whose office is bound to Math's life, are the Welsh faces of the kingship-and-goddess complex that Mac Cana traced through Irish literature. Medb's deepest kin are lexical and ritual at once. The office is only the latest translation.
The Method, Stated Plainly
None of this is numerology. A seat exists only where the match can be argued from the deity’s documented domains and deeds — weighted, published, and falsifiable. The derivation, the weights, and the challenge process are public on the methodology page. If a seat in this file reads wrong, the atlas itself tells you how to prove it — and the correction becomes part of the record.
For the Ones Who Work There
For a sponsor in defense, military & security, the fit here is not adjacency — it is inheritance. Your trade already tells this story every working day; the temple simply holds the original. The patron tier and the advertising terms carry the mechanics; the myths above carry the reason.
The File Continues
This is one of 397 Resonance Files — the third dispatch from every flagship temple, where the myths meet the markets. The temple's founding dispatch tells the name's story; its Restoration File tells the spelling's; the blog index holds the whole archive.
Continue the series — previous: Māzǔ (read it) · next: Médousa (read it).
The Resonance Files are argued from the same canonical record as the pattern atlas itself: the lexicon, the lore catalog, and the cited sources. Every seat can be challenged at the methodology page — and the challenge is the point.
