2. The narrative record. One Goddess, Many Names — The great prayer of King Muwatalli (CTH 376) opens by walking the goddess's names across the empire: my lady, queen of all the lands — in Hatti she is the Sun-goddess of Arinna; in Arzawa, the Sun-goddess of Arzawa; in the land of Lycia they call her Mother; and so on through the subject kingdoms, name after name, land after land, down toward the Syrian coast. The passage is the earliest surviving theology of a multi-ethnic state: one sovereign radiance, known in every subject people's tongue. The Sun Who Crosses the Sky — Each dawn the Sun-goddess rises in the east and rides her chariot across the heavens, and her light is the empire's clock: oaths were sworn to her as she cleared the horizon, festivals opened at her rising, and treaties took force under her witnessing disk. Sun-disc emblems cap Hittite stelae and gate monuments at Boğazköy, and winged suns fly over the empire's seals.

3. The physical record. The texts that name Arinna were excavated from the Hittite royal archives at Boğazköy-Hattusa and related sites in central Anatolia, including temple storerooms and administrative buildings within the citadel. The tablets belong to the corpus of Hittite cuneiform literature preserved in the imperial chancery, with duplicates and parallels in Hurrian, Hattic, Luwian, and other Anatolian traditions. Many were written or copied during the Empire period (c. 1400–1180 BCE), though some compositions may descend from older oral or written sources. The clay tablets were baked, either deliberately or by the fire that destroyed the city, which helped preserve them for modern excavation and study.

4. The current holding. The temple at /arinniti/, classified Tier 2. One decisive feature survives — a single, honest mark — which places the restoration in Tier-2: exact, and exactly labeled.
