The provenance file on Tfnt

Catalogue entry — Tfnt. Every claim below carries its chain of custody.

Provenance

1. The attestation. 𓏏𓆑𓈖𓏏𓁐, from the tradition's own record. On record: Heliopolitan and Memphite cosmogonies, Book of the Heavenly Cow (Destruction of Mankind), Leiden Papyrus I 384 (Return of the Eye), Pyramid Texts (Shu–Tefnut pair).

2. The narrative record. The Spat-Forth Pair — In the Memphite and Heliopolitan accounts the creator — Atum or Ra — produced his first two children by spitting (tf) and sneezing: Tefnut the moisture and Shu the air. Their names are the verbs of that first physiology; the world’s atmosphere is the afterbirth of the god’s own body. The Flight to Nubia — When the creator grew old, men plotted against him — and his Eye, sent to punish them, abandoned her post in fury and fled south as a raging lioness. Egypt withered without her.

3. The physical record. She appears with Shu flanking the solar barque in tomb and temple programmes from the Old Kingdom onward — the twin supports of the sun’s journey. Fine lioness-headed examples survive in the Ramesside temples of the Theban west bank and in the Louvre’s statuary of the solar triads.

4. The current holding. The temple at /tefnut/, a temple of the restored name. aSCII-equivalent form

5. The documented resonances. Freshwater & Hydrology, Agriculture, Food & Harvest, Meteorology & Weather Intelligence — seats argued and weighted in the pattern atlas, read through the myths in this temple's Resonance File.

6. The primary sources. The Book of the Dead — the library this file answers to, open at the Sacred Texts collection.

7. The continuing record. The spit-and-sneeze cosmogony remains a favourite exhibit of Egyptian theology’s concreteness — the first act of creation as a bodily reflex. Her lioness form fed the iconography of Egyptian goddesses generally; and the Leiden ‘Return of the Eye’ is a set text of Middle Egyptian literature courses for its perfect rhetoric.

The Restoration Files are written from the same canonical record as the temples themselves: the lexicon, the lore catalog, the pattern atlas, and the cited scholarly sources. If a file ever disagrees with its temple, the temple is right — tell us, and the file will be corrected.
