The Test

Seat 1: Timekeeping & Calendar Systems

Claim: The 52-year New Fire cycle; time restarted by hand. Exhibit: The Drilling of the New Fire — At the close of each 52-year cycle (xiuhmolpilli), the Aztec world extinguished every flame: households went dark, debts were settled, and the priests climbed Huixachtlan — Hill of the Star — to watch for the Pleiades' midnight passage.

Verdict: stands. Strip both to their function and the functions match.

Seat 2: Thermal, Geothermal & Fire Energy

Claim: The Aztec fire itself — first and last of the gods, the hearth at the center of the universe; heat made lord. Exhibit: Huehueteotl, the Old One — Under his other name he is the oldest thing in the cosmos: Huehueteotl, the wrinkled god who carries the brazier on his bent back, present before the suns.

Verdict: survives scrutiny. The myth and the trade do the same work.

Seat 3: Manufacturing, Craft & Automation

Claim: The fire-drill and the forge; the hearth of all making. Exhibit: What Fire Asks — The codices show his contract: fire feeds the world and feeds on it.

Verdict: holds under load. The correspondence is functional, not decorative.

The Control Group

Against the seats that survived, one control: the temple's own summary of its figure — Xiuhtēcuhtli's myths are the calendar's: the fire that must be renewed, and the darkness that waits if it is not. The seats do not drift far from it. That is the audit's cleanest result.
