How Móði was rebuilt, mark by mark
Bench notes, Móði: what we found, what we rejected, and what we finally set down. Kept in the open, because a restoration you cannot audit is just a spelling with confidence.
What We Found
The attestation runs through the tradition's own sources: ᛘᚢᚦᛁ. Meaning: "The angry one".
The figure behind the name: Móði is not a god of independent myths.
What the Name Carried In
The Sons Who Survive. Völuspá prophesies that after Ragnarök, a few gods will survive to people the renewed world: Víðarr, Váli, Baldr, Höðr, and the sons of Þórr, Magni and Móði. They will inherit Mjölnir and the memory of their father's battles.
The Lifting of Hrungnir. After Þórr kills the giant Hrungnir, the giant's leg falls across Þórr's neck and pins him to the ground. None of the Æsir can lift it until Magni, Þórr's three-night-old son by Járnsaxa, arrives and flings the leg aside.
A spelling that has to carry stories like these is not a label. It is equipment.
Where It Stood Before Us
No archaeological find names Móði directly. His existence depends on the medieval manuscript tradition, especially the Codex Regius of the Poetic Edda and Snorri's Prose Edda. The broader context — Þórr's cult, Mjöllnir amulets, and the warrior ethos of Viking-Age Scandinavia — provides the material world in which a son of the thunder-god would be imagined as inheriting his father's protective role. The bench inherits all of it — the web temple is the newest site, not the first.
What We Kept
The evidence, mark by mark — 1 feature the keyboard form modi cannot hold:

What We Rejected
Any form invented for availability. The rule on the bench: if the evidence does not carry it, the domain does not get it — whatever the registrar has in stock.
What We Set Down
Móði — Tier-1 is not a compliment; it is a measurement. This restoration keeps something the ASCII form provably loses, and the measurement is repeatable.
For the voice: 'MOH-thi' — hold the 'o' long like 'mow' without the glide, then say the voiced 'th' of 'father' and end with a short 'ee'.
The temple stands at /sites/modi/ — the notes above are public in its Scholarly Edition, sources and all.
