How Ꜣb was rebuilt, mark by mark

What We Found
The attestation runs through the tradition's own sources: 𓍋𓃀𓂻. Meaning: "Heart. Central to the weighing of the heart ritual. Represents conscience, emotion, moral worth".
The figure behind the name: The Egyptian ab — usually translated as 'heart' — is far more than a physical organ.
What the Name Carried In
The Heart in the Chest. For the Egyptians, thought, feeling, and will all occurred in the heart. The ib recorded every deed, word, and intention of a person's life.
The Weighing of the Heart. In the Hall of the Two Truths, the heart of the deceased is placed on one pan of the scales and the feather of Maat — truth, justice, cosmic order — on the other. If the heart balances, the soul is declared maat-kheru and passes into the Field of Reeds.
A spelling that has to carry stories like these is not a label. It is equipment.
Where It Stood Before Us
The heart scarab of the Eighteenth-Dynasty official Amenhotep and the green-jasper scarab of King Sobekemsaf II exemplify the protective amulets placed on mummies. Theban tomb paintings, notably in the tomb of Senedjem (TT1) and the papyrus of Ani (British Museum EA 10470), depict the weighing before Osiris. Heart-shaped amulets and canopic inscriptions from Saqqara and Deir el-Medina confirm the ritual centrality of the ib across social classes. The bench inherits all of it — the web temple is the newest site, not the first.
What We Rejected
The plain ASCII ab — admissible as a fallback, never as the primary. A wrong accent would have been worse: the rulebook is explicit that a misplaced mark is worse than none.
What We Set Down
Ꜣb — The restoration preserves more than the ASCII form can express — stress, length, or a letter the Latin keyboard lost — which places it, mechanically, in Tier-1.
For the voice: 'AHB' — begin with a catch deep in the throat, then close firmly on b.
The temple stands at /sites/ab/ — the notes above are public in its Scholarly Edition, sources and all.
