Provenance
1. The attestation. Λητώ — "Lady, forgotten one". On record: Homeric Hymn to Apollo 30–178, Hesiod, Theogony, Callimachus, Hymn to Delos, Homer, Odyssey 11.576–581.
2. The preserved evidence. e → ē (Eta: long epsilon); o → ō (Omega: long omicron) — absent from the ASCII form leto, present in the restoration, verifiable against the sources above.
3. The narrative record. The Wanderings of Lētō — Hera, furious that Zeus had fathered children on Lētō, sent the great serpent Pýthōn to hunt the pregnant goddess and bound the earth by oath to give her no resting place. So the Homeric Hymn to Apollo (30–178) tells it: Lētō wandered the islands and coastlands, and every land feared to receive what would be Apollo's birthplace. Latona and the Lycian Peasants — In the sixth book of the Metamorphoses (6. 317–381), Ovid gives Lētō her most retold scene — under her Roman name Latona.
4. The current holding. The temple at /leto/, classified Tier 1. What survives here cannot be shown in ASCII: a feature of the original that the fallback alphabet flattens. That is the Tier-1 test, and this name passes it without argument.

7. The continuing record. Lētō's most enduring monument is Delos itself — the island fixed in the sea, today a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the French School's excavations since 1873 have uncovered the sanctuary quarter, the Terrace of the Lions, and the temples of the twins built over the birthplace. At the Letoon near Xanthos the French mission continues its work, and the trilingual inscription keeps the goddess's Lycian name in the archaeological record.
