Sḫmt, spelled the way the sources wrote it
There is a version of this name the early internet had to settle for: sekhmet. This is the file on how Sḫmt replaced it.
Sekhmet's mythology is dominated by one stupendous story and its aftermath: the day the sun-god sent her to punish humanity, and the trick that turned genocide into festival. In the Book of the Heavenly Cow, Re grows old and learns that mankind plots against him. He sends Sekhmet, his eye, to destroy them.
That is the figure this file is about — and the temple now standing at its restored name.

Sḫmt preserves its form without added diacritics: the restoration here is the exactness of the spelling itself, the form the tradition's own sources record. sekhmet and Sḫmt may look interchangeable to a search box; they are not interchangeable to a philologist.
