You cannot weigh an accent without knowing what it carries. Here is what Marzanna has been carrying.
The Stories That Carry the Name
Death to the Winter Queen. Every spring, in the week the church calendar calls Zielone Świątki ('Green Week'), villages across Poland carry Marzanna out of the settlement: a doll of straw and rags dressed as a woman, crowned, shawled, and splashed with water as she goes. The procession winds to the river or the last snowdrift, where the effigy is beaten, burned, or — most often — thrown into the current and held under until she drowns. The children sing that Marzanna is dead, and they carry home green boughs, the gaik, to prove that life has returned with her going.

Marzanna and Jarilo. The fullest modern telling pairs her with a young god. In the reconstruction of Boris Rybakov (Ancient Slavic Paganism, 1981), Marzanna belongs to a seasonal drama: Jarilo (Jarovit), the youthful power of spring vegetation and erotic force, dies each year, and winter — Marzanna — reigns over his absence until the rites call him back. Rybakov read the cycle out of calendar customs, wedding songs, and comparative Indo-European parallels.

The Name Travels
Christianity did not erase Marzanna; it rescheduled her. The drowning migrated to Zielone Świątki, the 'Green Week' after Pentecost, so that a pagan death-rite could wear the church's calendar, and medieval Polish synodal statutes thunder against the custom for centuries — the surest proof it never died.
The Address It Earned
The temple of Marzanna stands at /marzanna/ — lore, scholars, patterns — because a name carrying this much story deserves more than a parking page. Tier-2 here means one preserved truth — not less important, just singular. The temple shows it and names it.
