The Cult
There is no cult of Andvari to describe, and the corpus is honest about it. No temple, festival, priesthood, or votive deposit names him: he exists only as a character inside the Völsung narrative, preserved in the prose of Reginsmál, Snorri’s Skáldskaparmál, and Völsunga saga, and archaeology has found no runestone, offering, or named image that records him. What tradition preserves in place of worship is a dwelling — Andvarafors, the waterfall — and a legal-economic world in which his gold can be seized as wergild and his last ring taken at spear-point. The nearest thing to a rite in his dossier is the curse itself, the spoken word that turns theft into destiny. Modern Norse pagan practice centers on the recognized gods; no attested modern cult of Andvari is documented. His temple remains the page.
