The Cult
Amərətāt was never served by a temple, a statue, or a priesthood of her own — her cult is the liturgy of the Yasna, in which she and Haurvatāt are invoked together as two of the Holy Immortals, and the draught of pressed haoma is offered night after night. Her second 'cult' is the calendar: a day of the month and the month Amurdād still carry her name into every Zoroastrian household, kept with the small devotions owed to a guardian of plants. The tradition's own theology makes husbandry itself an act of worship: Pahlavi teaching and modern custom alike hold that to plant, water, and protect growing things is merit done in her name — a doctrine that turns every orchard into her sanctuary. This is a genuinely thin personal cult, honestly stated; what has never thinned is the ritual pairing and the agricultural piety that invoke her daily.
